About David

... Hello! My name is David and I am one of the pastors at Grace Presbyterian Church of Lookout Mountain.   I grew up as a military kid and moved around a bit, but spent the majority of his early  life on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, which he considers home.  Jesus Christ called Pastor me to himself through the ministry of Campus Outreach while attending the State University of West Georgia.   Later, after taking some time off from school, I attended Florida Bible College and then graduated from Southeastern Bible College in Birmingham, Alabama with a B.A. in Biblical-Theological Studies.  For seminary, I began my studies at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and then graduated from Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando in 2008.

I was licensed to preach by the Presbytery of the South of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church in the spring of 2006, after which, I served as the ministerial intern of Reformation OPC in Oviedo, Florida while I finished seminary.  Following graduation in 2008, I became the ministerial intern for Grace OPC in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, which ended in October of 2009.  In February 2010 Reformed Presbyterian Church on Lookout Mountain called me as their Senior Pastor; I was then ordained in April 2010 by the Tennessee Valley Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church in America and installed at RP in May 2010.

I am married to my beautiful bride, Christy, and God has blessed us with two lovely girls, Hannah and Lydia.  As a family, we greatly enjoy having people in our home and fellowshipping with the saints.  I enjoy spending time with my family, watching College football, and reading and discussing Reformed theology, especially from the redemptive-historical perspective of Geerhardus Vos.  As a pastor,  I am committed to a Word and Sacrament ministry that strives to exalt Christ and seeks to bring the gospel to bear on all aspects of the life and faith of the congregation, so that we might persevere in our present pilgrimage with a heavenly mindedness befitting those who have been raised with Christ:
If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.  For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory, (Colossians 3.1-4).
